DELICIOUS FOOD,
DEDICATED PEOPLE
Prince Edward Island is where we started and the relationships we share with Island growers run deep. Most Island farms are family run and their pride, dedication, and knowledge have been passed down through generations. This ensures the success of Cavendish Farms and our grower partners.
SUSTAINABLE
FARMING
Cavendish Farms’ approach to sustainability is based on investing in farming communities with a long-term perspective. This ensures the stable supply of product required to build and maintain equally long-standing relationships with our customers.
We know reducing the environmental footprint in farming and processing starts with growing the right potato varieties.
In 2020, we opened the Cavendish Farms Research Centre, a potato breeding and research centre in New Annan, Prince Edward Island. The facility is an investment in the sustainability of the potato industry on the Island.
Since opening, the Research Centre has expanded and now evaluates 100,000 unique potato lines each year. The potato lines are evaluated based on processing quality and key features that support sustainable farming like the reduced need for fertilizer, water, and pesticides.
Generating Renewable Energy from Potato Waste
A COMPANY YOU
CAN COUNT ON
Managing our resources in a sustainable way is a priority in our operations.
Every year, our state-of-the-art Biogas Plant in New Annan, Prince Edward Island, converts thousands of tonnes of potato waste (peel, raw material, and frozen product) from our two New Annan plants into energy.
In addition to producing renewable energy from waste at our Biogas Plant, we also own and operate a wastewater treatment facility where we capture biogas for energy. These efforts combined allow 36% of the fuel energy used at our two New Annan plants to be renewable.

At Cavendish Farms, we believe growing potatoes is much more than an industry – it’s a way of life. Every day, we work with our dedicated growers across Prince Edward Island to provide quality potatoes while managing resources in a responsible way.
Farming sustainably is a shared commitment, and we are proud of our efforts to protect the environment and deliver value from the farm to the table.
